The Library committee tries to buy a wide range of titles to meet the needs of as many as possible: adults, youth and children. We have a great range of children’s picture books and chapter stories. In the adult section we have fiction, biographies, prayers and meditations, books on Christian living, study-group resources, Bible commentaries, books relating faith to topical issues, on church history and world faiths, books on parenting and on ministries to youth and children. There is definitely something for everyone.
Books ranging across the theological spectrum are added to provide different, sometimes challenging, viewpoints. We hope they will be of great benefit in helping you to think about issues, in providing inspiration and in helping you to grow in your faith. Come and check us out. Items are issued for one month and may be renewed if no-one else is waiting. A catalogue enhances access to authors, titles and subjects and the Library is arranged in Dewey Decimal Classification order. Assistance is on hand after the 10am Sunday service, during the morning tea gatherings.

When I Talk to You: a Cartoonist talks to God
by Leunig. --- 242 LEU
The prayers contained in this book were created for publication in Melbourne’s Sunday Age newspaper. Their publication was something of a small experiment for the author and the paper. Leunig had originally been asked to draw a weekly cartoon, but the ethos of the time led him to believe that a spiritual message might be more appropriate to balance the anxiety and distress caused by the media. The simple, wacky, heart warming prayers collected in this book are the result.
Cherishing the Earth: How to Care for God's Creation
by Martin & Margot Hodson.(261 HOD) --- 261 HOD
The Hodsons provide the integrated wisdom of a scientist and a pastor who have discovered that sustainable living requires spiritual as well as technological resources. Every system on Earth has been affected by human actions. We have plundered its mineral resources and polluted the land, the atmosphere and the water, and urgently need to learn how to care for God’s creation. Lively stories of people who have found positive ways to respond are combined with thoughtful theological commentary.

The Church of All Ages: Generations Worshipping Together
by Howard Vanderwell (ed.) --- 264 CHU
Should we try to hold the generations together when we worship? Is it even possible? Led by pastor Howard Vanderwell, nine writers offer their reflections on issues congregational leaders need to address as they design their worship ministry. The thread that connects these varied contributions is the belief there is no greater privilege for Christians than worshipping God, and there is no better way to do that than as an intergenerational community in which all are important and all encourage and nurture the faith of the others.

Paul for Everyone: the Prison Letters (Ephesians,
Philippians, Colossians and Philemon)
by Tom Wright --- 227 WRI
Making use of his true scholar’s understanding, yet writing in an approachable and anecdotal
style, Tom Wright captures the verve and sparkle of these letters. Paul wrote the letters while
in prison facing possible death, but their passion and energy are undimmed, showing Paul’s longing
to see young churches growing in faith.
